Corti Brothers Newsletter for December 2006 Page 2 Loison Pannettone Al Mandarino Tardivo di Ciaculli Basso Shape The Mandarino tardivo di Ciaculli, the late mandarin from Ciaculli, a neighborhood of Palermo, Sicily is a Mediterranean mandarin (Citrus deliciosa Ten.) imported originally from China to England by Sir Abraham Hume. It went to Malta, and then Italy, arriving in Palermo in 1810. Its rind oil has a distinctive fragrant aroma. The Tardivo di Ciaculli first made its appearance in the Easter colombe that Loison produced in spring 2006. A decision was made to make a special panettone for Christmas 2006 using only the candied rind of the Tardivo di Ciaculli to replace all other citrus fruit in the panettone. Thus was born a very special panettone. It is wrapped in opaque paper with an orange satin bow. Presidium Slow Food. Unique and exclusive to Loison.

Loison considers this panettone its top production. Only regionally sourced ingredients are used, and the inclusion of a Sloe Food Presidium vanilla from Mananara, Madagascar lends a special touch to this panettone. “1476" is its name since this is the mythological date for the creation of the first panettone at the Milanese court of Duke Lodovico Sforza, il Moro. Unique and exclusive to Loison.
